Porch Talks

Join us on the porch for a visit, you never know who will be pulling up a seat and what knowledge they are willing to impart or story they have to tell. If the farm has a successful growing season, you may even find yourself stinging beans or some other type of hand work done on porches while visiting. This week come visit with someone who’s family grew small leaf Turkish Tobacco, was taught to track bees as a child, retired from running a country store, canner and preserver of all things wild and homegrown including kids. Cornbread and Hog Jowl are still her favorite things to eat. Born, raised, and lived her entire life in the same community. Milk a cow, sew a fancy dress, sing to the babies, change out a starter, plum a sink, drive a team of mules, you name it she’d tackle it and make it look easy. Known to many as “Maw”, come out and meet her on Saturday.
