Orion’s Best

The wool of Gulf Coast Native Sheep is medium-soft with a good crimp and relatively low lanolin content, making it easy to work with. It is prized by hand-spinners for socks, sweaters, outerwear, and other projects, and blends smoothly with other fibers to create versatile yarns. The wool felts readily, making it suitable for hats and similar items, and it also takes dye well, allowing for a wide range of creative possibilities.

Our Gulf Coast Native Sheep has a soft willing fiber with a lovely crimp. Their wool has been processed with love by some volunteers and employees of the farm. All of the wool is processed by hand. We offer a wide variety for you to purchase to take some of our loving sheep home with you. The Gulf Coast Native Sheep are a critically endangered breed. There is less than 1,000 registered in the world. We are doing our part to help keep this breed alive and thriving. Help support them and our cause for them by taking a piece of them home with you.
